Choosing the perfect caterer can seem overwhelming at first, but we put together our best tips to make that decision a little easier for your special day.

1. Decide on a budget
Working out a budget needs to be one of the first steps before you ever contact a caterer. Some caterers offer packages set at different price ranges, so see which ones will work within your budget before you have your heart set on one you can’t afford.

2. Check for an approved list
Make sure to check with your venue to see if they already have an approved list of caterers before you start your search. These are vendors that your venue can back and assure quality service from. Most venues have a variety of approved caterers to choose from, so you can be sure to get the perfect, custom fit for your wedding!

3. Ask about dinnerware and staff
Whereas most caterers provide china, silverware, and glassware, some just provide disposable ware. It’s a good idea to check with your vendor to see what all they offer. It is also important to get an estimate of how many staff will be needed in order to properly accommodate you and your guests.
4. Select your menu
Attending a bridal expo/open house is a great opportunity for you to sample different caterers and get a better idea of their presentation. Whenever you have your heart set on a caterer, inquire if they offer tastings. Regardless whether they are complimentary or require a fee, tastings are a crucial component in selecting the perfect menu. Many caterers are also able to accommodate dietary restrictions, so make sure to keep that in mind during your search.
