Vendor Spotlight | Capture Thirteen Photography

We are focusing our energy during this unprecedented time featuring vendors who we admire & love working with on our Blog to help you begin planning for your Big Day at home! Today we are featuring one of our beloved photography companies, Capture Thirteen Photography! We got the chance to speak with the faces behind the cameras, Alison & Brandi, to share a little backstory of Capture Thirteen & their shared love for wedding photography! We hope you fall in love with them as much as we have!

"Hello, friends! We are Alison and Brandy, the faces behind the cameras of Capture Thirteen. We are natural light photographers based out of Northeast Georgia, serving the local community and beyond! We met while working at our local YMCA in the early 2000s, but our photography worlds didn't collide until a few years later when Brandy photographed Alison's cousin's wedding! In 2012, Brandy was photographing another wedding and needed a second shooter, so she reached out to Alison and they planned to shoot their first wedding together. That wedding went so well that at the end of that fateful night they left saying they should always shoot weddings together! About a year later their photography dream team became a reality and Capture Thirteen Photography was born!

When we started out as Capture Thirteen our goal was to approach each and every photo session and wedding day as a team to best serve our couples and families. We feel our team approach is one of the things that makes our couples experience with us unique. There is no lead or second shooter here. We are equals. Our creativity thrives as we’re working together whether it’s shooting the details of the day, helping our couples ease into posing, or documenting the moments.

Our shared love for wedding photography is what brought us together but what keeps us together as a team, is our shared purpose. We feel our purpose is to invest in the lives of others... to tell their stories and to build relationships. We not only want to serve our couples, we also want to get to know them. We consider it an honor to be invited into their lives and capture their memories.

Almost a decade into working together and we couldn’t imagine our photography journey without the other."

"Hi Friends! - In some ways, I feel like my photography journey began when my mom bought me my first 110 Kodak camera somewhere between 8-10 years old because I kept using up her film to take pictures of my dog and stuffed animals! However, where I really found my passion for photography was in college at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia. Where I spent most of my days in the darkroom studying black and white fine art photography.  In 2008, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Art Marketing with an emphasis in photography. When I'm not behind the camera, being with friends and family is my favorite place to be. I’ve recently become a plant lady and love to spend time working on my gardening skills. Things I’ll never turn down: an ice cold Coca-Cola, chips and salsa, a cheesy Hallmark movie, or a chance to go paddle boarding!"

"Hello sweet friends! - I'm so thankful I grew up with a mom who had that creative talent and nurtured me to be creative, but it wasn't until I was 21 that I fell in love with the art of photography. I started out as a photographer's assistant learning the books, ordering and framing, dark room and all the behind the scenes work that goes into the business. I quickly realized I wanted to be more with each beautiful image my boss was creating. So in 2001, I decided to quit my job and go to photography school full time. I graduated from LIVELY in Tallahassee, Florida and have been capturing beautiful moments ever since! When I'm not behind the camera I'm loving life as a wife to my husband of 23 years, Brad, and mother to my son, Tyler, and daughter, Emma. They are my world. I love home decor and seeing just how many different ways I can rearrange my furniture. I enjoy a good cup of coffee and being involved in service opportunities."
